A Note on Benjamin Zephaniah’s Estate: Permissions

The estate of Benjamin Zephaniah has been left in its entirety to myself, his wife, Qian Zephaniah. This includes all literary and music work and other assets. For this reason, I kindly request that any correspondence, regarding Benjamin Zephaniah, be sent directly to me.

My priority is to honour Benjamin’s wishes and ensure that his legacy is handled with utmost respect in order that people can continue to enjoy his work. I appreciate all who want to help me in this endeavour, therefore those who also respect him and his work should please contact me regarding permission for its use in any form.

As the representative of Benjamin Zephaniah’s estate, I would like to clarify the rights related to his creative work.

The rights to Benjamin’s music and any broadcasts of his work on television or radio rest with me. I am happy to handle any enquiries regarding these rights directly.

For his published literary works, including poetry and novels, permissions are generally managed by the respective publishers. For example, Bloodaxe Books oversees permissions for Dis Poetry, and Puffin Books (Penguin Random House) handles his children’s poetry collections. Requests for quotation, reproduction, or publication should be directed to the appropriate publisher, who will issue the necessary licenses and fees.

Thank you for respecting the correct channels when seeking permission to use Benjamin’s work.

Please be patient as we receive many queries. All will be responded to. If you do not receive a response after one month, you are welcome to resend your query.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
